The month of July was very busy for us. We first started out with a family trip to Yellowstone. We stopped the last day at a river "The Fire Hole" and did some impromptu swimming. It was fairly warm water and Carter loved it. Although he had a hard time keeping his shorts up!
Carter enjoyed the water more than I did....It took me awhile to fully get in.
Carter spent the majority of the trip in his backpack. Carrying 28 pounds of baby gets tiring after awhile and so everyone was happy to take a turn. Even though he's old, Grandpa took his turn!
Aunt Catherine was more than willing to pack him for awhile.
Although Neil did most of the packing. By the way, consider this your Christmas card for this year, just in case I don't get one out like most years.
When it was my turn to pack Carter I preferred to do it the old fashioned way. The backpack killed my back.....but hey, I carried him for 9 months, right on my sciatic nerve. I deserve a break.
After Yellowstone it was back to Grandma's for a week to hang out with Cousins. Here are Mitchell and Carter (8 months apart). My sister and I, without each others knowledge have a lot of the same clothes for our boys. So we decided to dress them a like a few days. Neil thought this was a little weird; I thought it was adorable!
There were lots of baths with 3 active kids. Mitchell loved pouring water on Carter and you can see how much Carter loved that......he kept trying to climb out of the tub!
We spent a lot of time at the kiddie pool in Burley. You've got to love FREE pools. Carter loved splashing and crawling around.
Carter's sign language has really taken off as of a few weeks ago. Here he is getting ready to sign "more" at breakfast. This is his favorite sign and he usually shoves one piece of food in his mouth and is already signing "more" before the bites been swallowed. He now can sign(without any prompting or help):
More, Please, Done, Thank You, drink, cracker and Shoes. He will occasionally combine two signs and ask for "more please!" I love watching him do this-all my hard work is finally paying off. This last picture is one of my favorites. I was trying to blow dry my hair one day and Carter kept getting into things. So I plopped him in his rocking chair and turned on some random cartoon with hopes of it entertaining him. I love the zoned look on his face and the remote in his hand......Like Father Like Son! Sadly this only lasted about 2 minutes and then he wanted nothing to do with the TV. That is not taking after his parents there!

What a fun a busy month you had! I love the bathtub pic... Carter's cousin just having a ball and Carter looking to escape! And your "Christmas card" photo is fabulous. :)
I'm glad you guys have been having fun!! Carter is so stinkin' big and cute! Lilly REALLY needs to meet him! I love the matching outfits! I laughed out loud at the bathtub scene! What cute kids you guys have!
I'm sad we didn't get to swim in the river. Maybe next time! I love the matching outfits too, and the bathtub picture, so funny! I'm sad you guys aren't going on Saturday, but you'll have lots of fun!
That's awesome! I'm glad you guys are having a fun summer! Carter is growing up so fast... signing all that stuff, amazing! Way to go!
Looks like fun...WITHOUT ME! What were you thinking not inviting me to the Burley pool! I see how it is! :) Carter is growing so fast oh and I've always wanted one of those hiking packs...it looks like Carter liked it!
Oh my- who's the fat lady in the river picture?? I'm REALLY glad that picture of me in my swim suit wasn't any bigger, or I would have had to kill you.....
Those pics are so cute. I agree with you that the matching shirts/outfits are super cute. I especially like the pic of Carter lounging in his chair..... he looks like he loves it, too bad it didn't last long. But enjoy that he doesn't like TV yet- it will probably change someday before you know it and then he'll be demanding HIS shows and you'll never be able to watch one of your shows while he's awake again!
