After months and months of teaching Carter sign language he finally signed his first sign back to me. How fitting it was that "more" was his first sign. He knows the meaning of several other signs but only signs "more" for now. At first I thought it was a fluke but he's continued doing it for a week now. Like all mothers....I think my kid is pretty smart!
(No this picture has nothing to do with signing, trying to catch him signing is like trying to catch a fart in the wind....almost impossible. This was just a cute picture of him. Pay no attention to the scary lady behind him!)

Random Pictures
This is Carter and his cousin Mitchell(8 months older). They got to spend a week together last week. Mitchell is OBSESSED with holding hands and doesn't care whose hand he holds. While at Cosco he desperately wanted to hold Carter's hand but Carter really didn't want anything to do with that. He has a strict "No public PDA." Do you know how many times I got asked if these were both my children? All while people are not even trying to hide their shock and disgust as they asked me that....
Carter will not get up on his knees to crawl, but he will get up on his knees to sleep. Go figure
I call this picture "If Carter were a girl" and called him Cartina! He was not happy and he's actually crying in this picture but of course as soon as he saw the camera, a smile emerged through the tears. This kid loves the camera....reminds me of Derek Zoolander and his love for the camera. Although his eyebrows don't do anything for his feminine side! I'm sure I will have to start plucking them soon.....

Memorial Weekend
We went to Park City this weekend and did a hike one morning. This is Carter after about 20 minutes into the hour hike. He never actually fell asleep but he was so relaxed he was drooling! Hopefully he will think twice about waking up at 5:30 a.m. next time!
Carter is moving so much more these days. Army crawling is really getting him places....like under the table. Don't let this smile fool you; he was actually quite mad that he was stuck under the chair. He just pulled a smile when he saw the camera!
Happy Birthday Daddy....Carter could only look and drool at this amazing Coldstone Cake. I on the other hand helped my self to a piece and had Carter's piece as well!
This is how Carter keeps his slim figure (ha). Eating his tasty toes; low calorie and very accessible. He does wear shoes but he has figured out how to get every single shoe off so he can play with his feet and make his mother crazy. Even though he is about 18 days shy of his first birthday and legally sitting forward, we made the switch anyways. He loves it and we love having better access to him.

11 months old!
My favorite person....
This post is a little late but I thought I'd still get it done. Carter turned 11 months last week. He is at the funnest age and I would love to just freeze him and keep him like this forever. He is so happy. He finally starting getting more teeth about a month ago. He now has 6.
Here are a few things about Carter:
Loves:
**Carter is absolutely obsessed with opening and closing doors of all kind. If we ever walk past one he almost lunges out of your arms to grab the handle. I sit him in front of drawers or doors and he'll play there for hours...or until he smashes his fingers, which ever comes first.
**Kitties and Dogs(sad since he is allergic to both-why couldn't he be allergic to Llamas?)
**Cars-he likes to drive them over his head after I did that to him a few times
**Talking on the phone-He said his first word last week "Hi" which he learned from talking on the phone. He's so cute-he'll put anything up to ear and "talk" on it.He also loves his daddy and is sooo excited to see him. (Neil is in his biking clothes....don't be alarmed)
Hates:
**sleeping in (he's up now about 6:30-wide awake. Boo for me!)
**getting his nails cut which grow faster than him!
**getting his diaper changed and staying still for more than 1 second
Luckily he doesn't have many dislikes.

Uh-oh
Carter has recently starting "moving." He doesn't crawl in the way you see most babies crawl, he has invented his own unique way. I think he looks like he's had a stroke as he moves and Neil describes it as swimming on land. Crawling would take much less effort but Carter has his own way. These first 2 pictures kind of show what he looks like when he "moves." He pushes off one shoulder and uses his feet to push himself forward. All while dragging his head across the carpet.
Back to the story....since Carter started this moving about a month ago, I decided to do some minimal baby proofing(he can't pull himself up yet). The first thing I did was put covers on all the electrical outlets because he recently discovered the outlets and would try and put his fingers in them. Well this morning while I was eating breakfast and reading the paper he was playing in the living room. Once he moved out of sight I got up and this is what I found.......***Carter had pulled the cover off the outlet and was pretty proud of himself. It was a little game to him....pull it out, stick it back in, pull it out, stick it back in. Then......
He proceeded to put the cover in his mouth! These outlets that are suppose to protect my baby have now become a choking hazard. (Good thing I was right there to pull it out of his mouth-after the picture of course) So which is worse: Being electrocuted or choking to death?
(If you can see the little cover it has a little handle on it so I guess I'll have to get different shaped covers that he can't possibly get off.) I just never imagined that he could get these out of the outlets. I guess this is just a preview of the things he'll get into once he really starts cruising!

If I had a nickel for every kiss......
Do you not just want to kiss these chubby cheeks? I do, all day, everyday. At what age will this embarrass my son? 5, 10, 21?? Hopefully not soon......I can't get enough of him!
Carter must get his "hair genes" from both sets of Grandpas and his father......He does have hair but it's quite thin...........plus there is always more on the bottom/back than top. It's all business in front and all party in back!
