Neil and I think Carter is smart. Actually brilliant! But what parent doesn't think that of their child? So take that for what it's worth. After he started talking he would always ask "Where daddy go?" So I always told him work. So now he thinks everyone who is not in sight, is at work. Except for some reason his Uncle Steve is "gone," and Aunt Catherine is "Asleep." Which if you know Catherine, it is totally fitting. And we did not teach him to say that. He came up with those all by himself and you cannot get him to say anything else about them. Neil and I were trying to think how many words Carter can say without being prompted. And it is well over 50-someday I need to make a list because it keeps getting bigger. He knows words that shock us. As I peeled him an orange today(which is his new obsession) he was starting to melt down because it was taking longer than 3 seconds. I told him to have patience please and he kept jumping around yelling patience. He walked into our bedroom this morning and said "dark, light on." Neil was amazed because we didn't know he knew what dark was.
Carrie this post is semi for you. You will hear Carter saying Chloe and Mitchell's name. Although most of the time he says "Chloe work." All jumbled together. I could barely get him to say their names because he just wanted to keep telling me that they were at work. But if you watch to the very end he says their names quite well.

That is adorable, and yes, he is a very good talker. (Well, I may be basing this on Mitch's abilities at this age which were grunt grunt, point point), but no, he is one very smart little boy. Very clear in his words and putting 2+ words together is probably a little advanced.
I love that he said "ketchup" when you said say hot dog. That boy loves him some hot dogs. And that's hilarious that Catherine is "asleep." Carter knows her too well....
i have been meaning too post a video of Mitch talking and get him saying "Chloe hit me" and what he now calls himself- "Mickel."
And I do have to tell you- Mitch loves getting on your blog to see the picture of Carter on Santa's lap. He is obsessed with Santa and every time I"m on the computer he'll come up and beg to see "Santan, Santan" (a mix between Santa and Satan.)
Cute video- Mitch sat on my lap and was loving every minute of it. Chloe will be excited to see it when she gets home from school
Way to go, Carter! Lilly also thinks he's a genius!
Holy cow, listen to him go! I'm impressed. And it's not only you and Neil.. he really is a smart kid! :)
What a smart little guy! I love it when they can start talking alot more.
That video was so worth watching just to hear you moo and baaa.
That was maybe my favorite Carter post yet. He is very smart--just like all of my grandchildren.
It's so fun when kids start putting words together in creative ways. Pretty soon you'll be wishing that you knew how to shut him up. But I'll never get tired of hearing his chatter.
