Today I told Carter no more marshmallows. I told him he could have a banana or some banana bread. There were a few tears and then he left the room. I didn't think much of it until I heard some noise on the tile. I came out to see this:

Carter grabbed his climbing stool from the bathroom (which is suppose to be for helping him reach the sink to wash his hands and brush his teeth) and pushed it up next to the pantry. Luckily because he was leaning against the cupboard he couldn't open it to get the marshmallows out. He knows the marshmallows are on a high shelf.

Carter has never been a climber before but I think that's slowly changing. Thanks in part to his trusty blue stool. (notice the broom in the background. It is slowly becoming a permanent fixture on the floor thanks to Carter)

After I told him "no more marshmallows" he pushed his stool over to the other side where the banana bread it located. And yes that is a lighter in his hand......I haven't had to worry about things on the counters, until now. When he saw me snapping pictures he gleefully told me "Standing on it, mommy!"

Children falling down stairs, lighters in hands, you blog is becoming more of a case for the CPS! Don't worry, I won't tip them off. Also, I have that same pumpkin soap at my kitchen sink. It smells really good, I'm hoping it could last until fall again. Maybe it will if I just stop washing my hands
Funny...Tyler has the same partner! They're too smart!
I looks like Texas was way fun, I'm jealous that you were warm enough for shorts!
That little step stool sounds like exactly what Carter needs to take matters into his own hands and make sure he gets what he wants. :)
He and Mitchell are going to be little partners in crime this weekend... Mitch has gotten tired of the stool and now just pushes over a kitchen chair to get to whatever he wants to on the counters. Luckily the chair makes a lot of noise and I can hear him from almost anywhere in the house, but the stool is a silent little guy..... Smart little Carter. When you need a snack, you need a snack, even if Mom says no.... And he probably wanted the lighter to roast his marshmallows!
A sign its toddler time, better watch out mom =) I bet its so hard to say no to that little face
Smart kid... Mom says no, well, I'll get it myself! He's too cute. I love your updates. I'm glad you had a good time in Texas and had good weather! Darn all this snow we're having! We need to get together!
Smart kid! I always find a way to get "off limit" treats too.
ps. I'm diggin' your new family pic at the top of your blog.
He is looking so tall! I have been a slacker at checking blogs lately so...LOVE the haircut on you! Also, I am so jealous that you got to go to Houston! Texas food is awesome...definitely worth any possible extra pounds in my opinion.
Haha! What a funny kid!
