Carter has recently starting "moving." He doesn't crawl in the way you see most babies crawl, he has invented his own unique way. I think he looks like he's had a stroke as he moves and Neil describes it as swimming on land. Crawling would take much less effort but Carter has his own way. These first 2 pictures kind of show what he looks like when he "moves." He pushes off one shoulder and uses his feet to push himself forward. All while dragging his head across the carpet.
Back to the story....since Carter started this moving about a month ago, I decided to do some minimal baby proofing(he can't pull himself up yet). The first thing I did was put covers on all the electrical outlets because he recently discovered the outlets and would try and put his fingers in them. Well this morning while I was eating breakfast and reading the paper he was playing in the living room. Once he moved out of sight I got up and this is what I found.......***Carter had pulled the cover off the outlet and was pretty proud of himself. It was a little game to him....pull it out, stick it back in, pull it out, stick it back in. Then......
He proceeded to put the cover in his mouth! These outlets that are suppose to protect my baby have now become a choking hazard. (Good thing I was right there to pull it out of his mouth-after the picture of course) So which is worse: Being electrocuted or choking to death?
(If you can see the little cover it has a little handle on it so I guess I'll have to get different shaped covers that he can't possibly get off.) I just never imagined that he could get these out of the outlets. I guess this is just a preview of the things he'll get into once he really starts cruising!

Oh my, I have never heard of a baby being able to get an outlet cover off! You should get the kind I have- they are totally flat (not handles) and even I have a very difficult time getting them off and sometimes have to go get a knife to stick underneath it and pop it off. He shouldn't be able to get it off, but then again, he seems very clever. Kind of scary, but hilarious that he put it in his mouth. Victory!
And his crawl is so funny- I can't wait to see it in person in a few days. He really just wants to be a swimmer like his dad, it seems, or he feels sorry for the physically impaired.....
On second thought, by the pictures you posted, his "crawl" looks like how I would imagine myself crawling through a desert, dehydrated and desperately searching for water, in a delirious state with no strength......
Tyler pulls those off all the time too! You just have to get the ones that are flat on top, I can't hardly even get those off! He does look so proud of himself! I think his crawl is really cute!
LOL! I hope he can figure out the crawling thing before he meets Lilly! That may be a deal breaker for her!!! Just kidding, I think it's cute and funny! Good luck with the outlets!! It is ironic how a child can take off a child-proof item! You better keep an eye on this one, he is trickyyyyyy!!
He didn't even have to use a knife like I always have to to get those things out of the wall. Maybe I should be taking tips from Carter!
I think your kid must be tough. I haven't heard of baby getting those out either!
It was so good to see you guys! We need to get together more often. Carter is so cute and very clever!
That little guy is already proving he is an over achiever if you ask me! The crawling technique, and then being able to get the outlet covers off! Amazing! I think you might just be in trouble afterall!
So I was reading your older posts on Carter's allergies... YIKES! That's so awful! I can only hope that Peyton doesn't end up being allergic. How crazy for you, I bet your whole world of food has changed. So was he 7 months when he finally started sleeping through the night? I'm hoping and praying that it doesn't take Peyton that long, but it's not looking good. I hope things are going well for you guys!
